![]() ![]() it is just for an artsy knick knack on my coffee table so it really wasn't worth sending back for a tidier or tighter unit. i just feel for 600 bucks it should look like a pro job inside and out and be a little tighter fitting like a custom made professionally built still should be. maybe i got the 1 crappy one out of a 100, maybe ready to run meant right after you clean up someone else's mess. but there is a 1/4 inch gap where the hood fits to the kettle that would take a lot of putty to seal up. after cleaning up all the crap the manufacturer should have done it did hold water with no leaks so i guess it would work. i didnt get the polishing kit like they said came with it but i wanted an older backwoods look so that was no big deal. the worm was plugged with solder and corrosion which was a pain to clean out. it wasn't even touched on the inside, i had to spend a half a day pulling sharp copper shrapnel, flux, solder slag, out of the kettle, hood, thumper, just so it would be safe to try to clean it. the ad said ready to go so i thought maybe the inside would have been cleaned up some from manufacture. I just got the thing for an artistic backwoods display and have something i could distill water with in an emergency. But, again, I like the system, and with a little tinkering, and adjusting to how it works, it gets easier and easier to use.For the money i would have expected better But, freezing a gallon jug, and dropping it in the sink with the water will help with that and keep the circulating water cooler. It will gradually get warmer, so you might have to dump the sink of water and put more cold water in a couple times per run. I just full the sink with cold water and let that circulate through the worm. ![]() So, I ordered a 10' additional silicone hose and cut it to the length I needed. ![]() The silicone hose provided for the worm was "ok", but my sink is a little further from my stove than most maybe, and the silicone lines would not reach my sink. But it does take some practice to get to know how much to adjust it to get the right flow. Sure, it does take some tinkering, especially at first until you get the feel for the water the pump provides, but I adjust that with the ball valves on the worm pot, in very small increments until I got it where it feeds and drains at the same rate. Someone posted that it was impossible to keep the pump from over flowing the worm so they didn't like it because of that. It des work great, but a little cumbersome at the beginning until you establish a routine. (It is much cheaper to buy full strength antifreeze, and mix it 50/50 with distilled water, than it is to buy the 50/50 pre-mixed antifreeze.) Anyway, I do 2 gal runs of tap water to stock up on distilled water for our needs. I bought this to distill water for my CPAP machine, and to use in mixing automotive coolant for my truck and car. However, I might try an alcohol run at some point with it. I bought it to distill water, not spirits. Keep in mind, my rating is based on the purpose I bought it. I rated this at 4 stars because I like it, and it works great, but not perfect. The thickened bottom allows various heating methods, including gas stoves, firewood, electric ceramic heaters, etc. According to your preferences, you can make Whiskey, Wine, Brandy, Rum, Tequila, Vodka, Water Distiller, Ethanol, Essential Oils, etc. Versatile Application: There are many ways to use our alcohol still kit.In addition, the package has a one-way exhaust valve, which can be easily used during the fermentation process. Four buckles and silicone gaskets inside the lid help to seal tightly. Durable & Tight Seal: Unlike regular tubes, we use food-grade silicone tubes, which are flexible and tough, and are not easy to bend to ensure a good seal. The thumper keg helps discharge the hot water vapor, which helps to evaporate the alcohol for secondary distillation it is very suitable for adding flavors. Easy to Operate: The alcohol still kit has a real-time thermometer on the lid, with a dual-display of Celsius and Fahrenheit, which is convenient for monitoring the temperature of the wine during the distillation process. The rubber pad under the condenser can insulate and accelerate cooling. A circulating water pump is attached to save cooling water. The copper coil has rapid thermal conductivity and has a large contact area with the coolant, providing a lower distillation temperature. Rapid Cooling: The distillery kit adopts an open cooling method. All parts are made of food-grade materials, including silicone, stainless steel, and copper. 8" (30 x 30 cm), condenser: 7.9" x 4.3" (20 x 11 cm), thumper keg: 7" x 4" (18 x 10 cm), which can ferment up to 19 liters of raw materials. Sufficient Capacity: This alcohol still provides you with a fermentation capacity of 5 gallons. ![]()
